Google celebrates New Year’s Eve and / or New Year’s Day with a nice doodle (the Google logo as a funny story-telling image). It seems that the characters are individuals and have a nice party. Robert Noyce Doodle
Today Google honors Robert Noyce, „the Mayor of Silicon Valley“. He was born 1927 (84 years ago) in Burlington, Iowa. Robert Noyce is credited (along with Jack Kilby) with the invention of the integrated circuit. 1957 Noyce co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor. 1968 he co-founded Intel. Robert Noyce was granted 16 patents. He was also a mentor and father-figure to an entire generation of entrepreneurs. Read on »

Diego Rivera Doodle
Google honors the great Mexican painter Diego Rivera. He was born 125 years ago. The doodle shows a mural (wall painting) of the Google logo. Diego Rivera was born in 1886 to a well-to-do family. From the age of ten, Rivera studied art at the Academy of San Carlos. From 1907 to 1921 Rivera lived in Europe where he gets in contact with famous modern painters. His works are influenced by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Paul Cézanne. Read on »

Today Google honors the American author and humorist Mark Twain with a doodle on the homepage. Mark Twain was born in 1835 in Missouri, USA – 167 years ago. When he was four, his family moved to a port town on the Mississippi River.Mark Twain was a restless artist with many interests and ideas. The doodle shows three scene with two boys. They are inspired by Twains most famous figures: Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. Seems that they want to overpaint the Google logo. Read on »

Stanislaw Lem Doodle
60 years ago one of the first books of Stanislaw Lem was published: „the Arstonauts“. Google honors the Polish godfather of science fiction and future philosophy with an amazing Doodle. It is an intactive animation. You have to solve some problems before you get the solution keys. With these keys a „Universal Machine“ could be created. It gives you all you want. But in the end someone wishes „nothing“. And consequently the mechine deletes itself and everything else. The result is noting – on the Google homepage. Read on »

Louis Daguerre doodle
Google celebrates Louis Daguerre’s 224th birthday with a nice doodle. It looks like an old-fashioned photography. Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre (1787 – 1851) was a French artist and physicist. In his time he became famous as a theatrical illusion-designer. Today he is recognized for his invention of the daguerreotype (1839). The daguerreotype is a single image which is not reproducible. Art Clokey Google doodle
Today Google honors Art Clokey with a „Gumby“-Doodle on the homepage. Art Clokey was a pioneer in the stop motion clay animation. He was born on Oct. 12, 1921 – 75 years ago. His birthname was Arthur C. Farrington. When Art was nine years old, his parents divorced. He lived with his father, but he died in a car accident.
