Google honors Maurice Sendak with an nice animated doodle. He was born on June 10, 1928 – 85 years ago. Maurice Bernard Sendak was an American illustrator and writer of children’s books. He is best known for his book „Where the Wild Things Are“, first published in 1963. The book’s depictions of fanged monsters concerned some parents, as his characters were somewhat grotesque in appearance. Sendak says: „Children are tough, though we tend to think of them as fragile. Google is working on a „special app“ for the new Google Glass (project Glass): a body scanner („x-ray app„). That should be possible, the people, seen through the glasses, take virtually with semi-transparent clothes to something more closely. The principle is simple. Google can now detect and identify faces. It’s the same course with clothes. Software analyzes the garments and filter them out virtually. What remains of the person, as God created it.

The answer to all questions ist … Everybody knows it – but did you know who gave the answer? It was Douglas Adams who wrote the novel „The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy„. Douglas Adams was born on 11 March 1952. Google celebrates his 61st birthday with an interacive funny doodle. Doug Adams was an English writer, humorist and dramatist. Unfortunately Adams died in 2001. I made an infographic on about „how Google Glass works“. As an artist I’m interested in visual perception, visual eyetests and glasses. So I checked out the patent (No. 212686, Aug. 2011) for Google’s Glass and made an infographic that explaines in an easy to understand way how it works. In conclusion it’s not a usual glass but more a kind of a projector that projects an visual layer over reality (augmented reality)  – directly on the retina. The main element is the semi-transparent prism. Of course Google Glass is an technically masterpiece because it combines a lot of stuff (camera, phone, CPU incl. GPS) in a very small enviroment. Google honors Frank Zamboni with a cool interactive doodle on the homepage (only an Jan. 16, 2013). Frank Zamboni was born 111 years ago (Jan 16th, 1901). He was an inventor. He becomes most famous for his invention of an ice resurfacer, with his surname being registered as a trademark for these resurfacers. In the 1970s, he invented machines to remove water from outdoor artificial turf surfaces, remove paint stripes from the same surfaces, and roll up and lay down artificial turf in domed stadiums. His final invention, in 1983, was an automatic edger to remove ice buildup from the edges of rinks. Read on »
